General Information
The Artistic Center The House next door(A Casa ao Lado), in the development of its activities has focused a significant part of its work on the creation of a platform of projects with Institutions, Municipalities and Associations related to the area of Social and Cultural Dynamization. These projects consist of actions in the area of development of Artistic Education, Social Inclusion through Art and Urban Interventions. A Casa ao Lado is an UNESCO Club. The House next door has as its mission the support for the development of technical skills linked to the arts, through the promotion and promotion of the improvement of people's capacities. It consists of qualified human resources with experience in the arts area, namely in technical areas, and knowledgeable of the added value inherent to materials and their applications. Through contact with audiences of different age groups, groups with greater social vulnerability, with a view to facilitating the encounter and dialogue between different social groups, age, cultural, equal opportunities and strengthening social and territorial cohesion, detected the need to bring this type of knowledge and motivation to the population.  The ability, of The House next door, to convert ideas into realities and leisure is a strategy and a competitive requirement.Being The House next door, interventional with and for the Community, faced over the years with the lack of understanding of the Community towards the importance of the historical evolution of the Graphism of Man, thinking the same as urban interventions were something of the current.  In this context, the Interpretive Center of Graphics arises – Labyrinth of the Arts, one of A Casa ao Lado's Projets. The Labyrinth of the Arts aims to reinforce some of the contents covered in school curricula, introducing concepts that are usually more absent from this sphere, allowing to create lasting and stimulating bridges between school and non-school learning, in a creative and appealing way.  Is it possible to go around the world of Art History in a creative maze? Travel for different times, know customs and discover techniques kept as a secret for centuries? From Rock Art to the Art of the 19th Century. XXI, the Labyrinth of the Arts aims to be a learning space based on the development of Graphism, where artistic movements, artists, aesthetics and styles of the most diverse horizons are presented in a creative journey.  The space seeks to enhance factors such as creativity, individual expression and capacity for representation, fostering the discovery of artistic movements through theoretical explanations and practical works related to each presented season. In the artistic intervention projets, A Casa ao Lado has several Projets with the Comunity. The team of A Casa ao Lado has 4 plastic artists, 1 designer and 1 person from art and heritage. A Casa ao Lado works with private institutions, city halls, schools, cultural centers.

Main Projects / Activities

Some of our Artistic Projets  with the Comunity
A TRACE FOR MAGALHÃES
Regarding the commemorations of the Fifth Centenary of the First World Tour (2019-2022), as well as Fernão de Magalhães, also the project “A TRACE by Magalhães”, considered it possible for the Portuguese Community spread throughout the world to leave its “mark” through Community artistic interventions.
URBAN YOUTH
"Urban Youth" is an urban intervention project in partnership with the Youth House of Famalicão that aims to promote the encounter and dialogue between young people from 12 to 35 years, in order to strengthen social and territorial cohesion through art. In order to promote artistic activity as an instrument of economic, social and cultural development, the "Urban Youth" project also has as its objective the valorisation of urban spaces through artistic interventions.
TRACE
Project, titled "TRACE" - Urban Art Intervention - Towers of Lameiras Buildings, sought to provide access to new forms of art and information to young residents, enhancing their social integration and citizenship, thus overcoming the situation of imminent social exclusion in which they were.
Winning project of "Networking" 2017 by the Municipality of V.N.Famalicão.
LUSÍADAS
Urban community intervention in 20 banks of Rua Luís de Camões, in Famalicão, with the graphic narrative of the 10 stories of the "Lusíadas".
MARK - Interventions in school spaces, so that each student leaves his mark and at the same time requalify-transform your school.
Labyrinth of the Arts
In the Labyrinth of the Arts, visits are made by the light of a lantern that illuminates the route and leads the look through the murals, creating a special surrounding. The new interpretive center of graphics has ten rooms depicting different periods, duly contextualized by the guide: first, a Paleolithic cave, followed by a long time corridor that runs through the Metal Age, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Neoclassicism, Impressionism and the different artistic movements of the 19th century. XX (Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art…). In the end, there is also a reproduction of a work by Vhils, probably the best known Portuguese urban artist today. A note to recognize the inexhaustible need to record and communicate through murals.
The Paleolithic Year
The visit to the Labyrinth of the Arts, with about two hours, has always associated a workshop. Each year, theoretical and practical activities will be concentrated at one time for a deeper approach. Until April 2020, the focus is on the Paleolithic, joining the Côa Museum to hold lectures and exhibitions on rock art. During the week, the interpretative center only hosts school, on Saturdays, the doors are open to the community, to realize, after all, that this painting of walls had been done for thousands of years.

General Information
Azimut is a non-profit organization broadcasting artists from the Arab worlds which objective is to give them more visibility and to show contemporary realities from the Arab worlds through arts.
Mission and Objectives

The project was born out of a meeting between two young women and their passion for art. Linked to the Arab world through our stories and life course, we follow very closely the news, the challenges the people have to face, and the tools and spaces of expression that arise in this contemporary context. We are both passionate about art and convinced of its capacity to encourage a better understanding of the other, and thus a greater tolerance. Located between Morocco, Algeria, Andalusia and Marseille, we created a network of cultural actors and artists from the Mediterranean South Shore that allowed us to launch the activities of Azimut in Seville.

Main Projects / Activities

Through the organization of multidisciplinary event (Azimut's Creative Encounters on the Arab Worlds) in Seville, AZIMUT aims to show works by young artists, new writings and new formats in order to present realities that are not very visible through official channels. The objective of these Encounters is not to essentialize an Arab identity but to show its diversity. Art has the particularity of being a permanent laboratory of inventions, and in territories in crisis, it seems necessary to invent new forms of expression. Artistic creation allows individuals to speak for themselves, to formulate ideas and feelings that are often difficult to express. Artists are social actors influenced by the cultural, social and political context in which they live, and often engaged in the issues of their time. As much as the artist is influenced by society,his works influence it in return.
The works shown will be selected either for their innovative forms of expression or for the message or information they want to convey. We seek to ensure that each work is the subject of reflection and debate with the public and the artist who will be present.
In addition, the dissemination of these works is for AZIMUT a form of support for the freedom of expression of these artists, for whom it is often difficult to create and express in a free manner, sometimes subject to censorship.
The Creative Encounters on the Arab Worlds are a multidisciplinary event taking place for a week in Seville. These Encounters are an opportunity to give voice to a lively and creative youth. Through these few days dedicated to the creative effusion of contemporary Arab worlds, we wish to create spaces and times for exchanges and sharing with artists from both shores and audiences from diverse backgrounds to become aware of the diversity of faces of these worlds we call Arab.Through the creations of emerging artists, there is the desire to write new narratives, new stories about contemporary Arab worlds, to overtake common beliefs. It is a question of giving to see and  hear geographical territories not to enclose them in frozen mental borders. Arts appeared to us as the best medium.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Based between Spain, France, Algeria and Morocco, the AZIMUT team has developed a network of cultural and artistic actors throughout the Mediterranean basin. She would like to be able to share this network and expand her own.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

The ALF network seems to us to be a reference network on issues of democracy and living together in the Mediterranean. We would like to share our ideas and enrich them by meeting other actors whose values we share. In addition, we are interested in the voice of today's youth.

General Information
We are a local NGO working mainly in the Helsinki region but with activities also in Turku and Jyväskylä. We have 12 employees working in the office, we also work with many interns, volunteers and sport instructors. Our budget this year is of about 340,000 euro. We are mainly funded by STEA (Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations), smaller funds we get from different municipalities and also from for example Kone Foundation.  We work very closely with NGO's like Monika-Naiset, Moniheli, municipalities, Plan Finland and others
Mission and Objectives

Monaliiku - Well-being and Sports for Multicultural Women is a NGO established in 2009 to create more opportunities for women from diverse backgrounds to engage in sports activities. Our mission is to promote the health, well-being and physical activities of women and girls through sports and cultural activities, regardless of their religion, skin color or cultural background and we aim to ensure and increase the equal participation of women and girls to sports and hobbies. We have expertise in understanding gender and culturally binded chracteristics related to sports environment and in integrating gender- and culturally sensitive methods when designing sports activities for women.

Main Projects / Activities

Monaliiku is coordinating local projects and sports activities that enhance the health and well-being of multicultural women and their families through sports. The activities vary from exercise groups to football and yoga or from swimming teaching to health education and sports events for families. We strive to engage in our activities the women who need support in integrating healthy life style or sports to their everyday life.
Monaliiku is specialized in arranging activities for multicultural women and girls who face different kind of challenges in participating to sports and exercise groups due to personal restrictions that stem from their cultural background which are not always recognized and considered in the socie-ty. Monaliiku is experienced in finding solutions that break down the barriers and obstacles that multicultural and immigrant women face when engaging to sports groups and activities and thus preventing their social exclusion in the society.
In 2018, Monaliiku’s flagship project Fit4Life has been awarded by the European Commission the #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards that recognises organisations using the power of sport to increase social inclusion for disadvantaged groups. The Fit4Life project focuses on prevention of social ex-clusion, promoting social well-being and improving of the quality of life of multicultural women, with the help of sports. In total the program engages a growing number of about 250 participants and instructors weekly offering a wide range of opportunities for sports and physical activities. Monaliiku has found a sustainable way to create activities for women with migrant background that due to cultural and religious restrictions would not be able to participate in sport activities. The main goal is to improve and sustain the health of the participants, but also to encourage them to integrate, to participate in the regular groups.
Beside the Fit4Life program, Monaliiku coordinates in 2019 one large project, Mentor on the Move, and two small ones. The goal of Mentor on the Move is to promote the well-being of the mentees (immigrant women) by building social networks and preventing social exclusion, improv-ing opportunities to participate in society and work life and by enhancing health by integrating physical activity into everyday life.
Last year, Monaliiku has coordinated in 2018 a pilot project funded by the European Union. The aim of the project was to foster the integration and social inclusion of refugees in Finland through sports. The activities in the project supported the integration of the refugee families into Finnish society through football and sport sessions, in which they participated together with families or persons who were volunteering in the activities.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We have been successfully working for 10 years to empower and activate migrant wome through sports in Finland and we think that our experience can be an added value to the network.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We want to be part of your network to be able to share our experince and knowledge with others and to learn from others.

Main Projects / Activities

SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT AND REMINDER OF FUTURE ACTIVITIES 2019-2022
During these years HABITAT WORLD has worked on the elaboration and organization of projects, proposals, initiatives, national and international conferences, connecting civil, scientific and professional society with the different institutional levels to develop contents in line with the needs of protection, enhancement and innovation of our immense environmental and cultural heritage, on the one hand, and following the Euro-Mediterranean strategies of the Adriatic-Ionian and Western Mediterranean macro-regions, on the other.
We have been particularly dedicated:
- to the itinerant event/workshop created by us under the name “Biennale Habitat"; which involved in the two editions 2012- 2014 and 2016-2018 about 25 cities in countries such as Greece, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Malta, Tunisia, etc. as well as different regions of Italy, working with associations, schools, universities, chambers of commerce, local and regional authorities, international bodies and networks that deal with research, environment, art and culture in various Euro-Mediterranean contexts;
- participated actively in Expo 2015 at the Aquae pavilion, with the exhibition of an award-winning project for the Venice Lagoon and the Waterways of the Northern Adriatic;
- worked at conferences in Rome and Mogadishu for the closure of memoranda of understanding between Italian Chambers of Commerce and Chambers of Commerce in Somalia to develop training, creation of Italian-Somali companies and for the launch of sustainable cooperation projects for agriculture, green building and craftsmanship in the Horn of Africa;
- organized training seminars and workshops on urban and landscape regeneration in collaboration with professional bodies;
- prepared projects for the regeneration of the coastline in Cilento and Ugento, and redevelopment projects for the repopulation of the historical villages of Central and Southern Italy.
Our latest initiatives in the Euro-Mediterranean context are:
- the elaboration and launch of an international master's degree SED MED - SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA - centred on the Economies of the Sea and the Blue Economy, for the creation of specific professional figures for the realization and management of a special economic region for the sustainable development of the Mediterranean (in collaboration with Unioncamere, Assonautica Italiana, Assocamerestero and the eCampus university);
- the creation of an international award dedicated to the “Mediterranean World Heritage"; for the research and dissemination of innovative projects from all Mediterranean countries aimed at sustainable development, environmental protection, protection and enhancement of cultural heritage.
The MEDITERRANEN HERITAGE OF HUMANITY award, organised in Alghero by bodies such as the Sassari Chamber of Commerce, Assonautica Nord Sardegna with a consortium of municipalities in the area, was a great success with the public and the press. The first prize was awarded in the category "art and culture"; to the Egyptian Hamdy Mahamud Elesetouhy for the project "Shazli";, the name of a village that was in danger of disappearing into the desert. The project concerns its requalification by recovering ancient construction techniques, to be handed down to the young people involved in the project and using local materials. The reconstruction and creation of common areas for activities related to pastoralism, social and religious life, the recovery of water and its use through systems that exploit the action of the wind, has allowed the local community to regain not only dignity and chance of survival, working, but also to keep alive a culture that has become an opportunity for the future. For the category "sustainable recovery and regeneration projects";, the first prize chosen by the jury is the Greek project "Costa Nostrum"; - Certification Standard for the Sustainable Management & Development of Mediterranean Beaches by Vasileios Zisimopoulus. The project is based on a methodology of environmental quality applied and tested in Crete that provides the possibility to certify beaches and coastal areas using a range of parameters including the judgment of tourists and users of services. The considerable value of the projects presented and in particular of the projects that received special mentions and awards was much appreciated and around the initiative of the award gathered distinguished guests, experts, delegates of important networks such as WISTA, MEDPAN, ASCAME, etc. and diplomatic representatives of the countries that participated in this first edition and that are carefully following the development and growth of this large archive of innovative projects to be disseminated and connected to create cultural bridges and knowledge between the Mediterranean countries. IEMED has also expressed its interest in deepening a collaboration with Habitat World in the coming months.
Already in this first edition the Ambassadors in Italy of Egypt H. E. Hisham Badr, Croatia H. E. Jasen Mesic and Albania H. E. Anila Bitri Lani - representing the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean, the EU member countries and candidate countries - have actively participated - since the research of the projects to be nominated for the prize as well as the final day on May 4th - with whom we have established a relationship of collaboration on the projects and dissemination initiatives in the countries of their area of reference. The sustainable development of the Mediterranean area and cultural cooperation are common objectives that can be strengthened through the active and proactive collaboration of the best sensitive minds and forward-looking visions that we are seeking and connecting through the initiative of the Award. Our association Habitat World aims to follow and make concrete the positive effects for the quality of life and awareness of our economic potential, if related to the protection and enhancement of the historical-cultural, environmental-landscape, everything, and the extraordinary mosaic of diversity that composes it. The overall strategy therefore translates into targeted actions that, in synergy, can make the Mediterranean the cradle of enlightened and renewed civilizations.
Habitat World is crucially also a contact point for Mediterranean initiatives for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAECI) of the Government of Italy and for the Diplomatic Community in Italy. Habitat World is also working closely with a number of sea and mountain communities in and around the Mediterranean bringing their specific agenda to the fore of national and international platforms.

General Information
The company has established itself as a “modern laboratory” where performers have “asylum” to continuously work on their development without regard to their nationality (as varied as Czech Republic, Spain, Vietnam, Germany, Korea, Slovakia, Brazil, France, and Russia), and without regard to their previous profession or genres of their work. They discover new ways of working with expression which cannot be developed during one-off projects or in mainstream theaters, and at the same time they are able to reassess their attitude towards themselves and towards their lives. In its seventeen years of existence, the company has represented the Czech Republic at many prestigious festivals, in more than 60 cities, and on three continents. Farm in the Cave has received numerous international and Czech prizes, among which the most prestigious is the European Prize for New Theatrical Realities for Director Viliam Dočolomanský, who thus became the only Czech recipient of that award.  Other awards include: Total Theater Award; The Grand Prix Golden Laurel Wreath Award; Fringe First Award; Respekt Magazine Prize for Best Dance Performance; Sazka Award for Best Movement Performance; the Grand Prize at Veljka Maricice, etc. Since 2018, Farm in the Cave took residence at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art. In addition to regular performances, the company aims to develop its educational and research work towards the wider public in close cooperation with the dramaturgy of the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art.  First performance presented in the DOX+ multifunctional space was the world premiere of the international co-production project Refuge in June 2018.
Mission and Objectives

Our focus is on the creation, development, and research of human expression.
The company’s modern works go beyond the borders of physical, dance, or musical theater. Farm in the Cave’s performances arise out of their long-term research which is focused on the transmission of human experience beyond words and limits of ordinary understanding. They find this for example in the legacies of minority cultures, music, physical expression, atmospheres, and facts connected with specific locations. In their performances the personal and social views of the world confront one another, and there are strong shared experiences between the performers and spectators.
In addition to their performances, site-specific projects, concerts, cultural research, and theater events, Farm in the Cave also engages in educational activities. The company collaborates with theater academies in the Czech Republic and abroad. They also regularly organize workshops in their studio in Prague, where each year students from all over the world participate. They also teach workshops as part of festivals or at the invitation of theater universities. For selected young theater makers the company offers the opportunity to participate in its long-term educational program in the form of internships. Company members are experienced teachers with university degrees (PhDs).
