On Monday, August 26, 2024, a team from the European Union Election Observation Mission to Jordan visited Performance Index Center headquarters to know about the procedures for monitoring the upcoming parliamentary elections. Specifically, the delegation was interested in the Center's work on the compliance index for monitoring the electoral process. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the two parties and supporting efforts to monitor the electoral process and ensure compliance with international standards.
The discussion during the meeting focused on the role of the compliance index “Imtithal” in evaluating the electoral process and examining the extent of adherence to international democratic standards and local laws. Both teams emphasized the importance of having an effective mechanism for election monitoring to ensure its integrity and transparency. The Center's team clarified the compliance index which aims to measure the extent to which the Independent Election Commission in Jordan “IEC” adheres to international and regional standards and local laws, and the importance of conducting the electoral process accordingly, which contributes to issuing accurate and comprehensive reports on compliance.
It is worth noting that the Performance Index Center, through its programs, seeks to strengthen democratic practices and support the rule of law. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their hope for fruitful and continuous cooperation in the coming period, contributing to the success of the upcoming electoral process and ensuring respect for international standards at all its stages.
