Local Democracy Agency Mostar takes on the global stage!

Our 6 dedicated representatives played a pivotal role in the recent Climate Migration Training and Beyond the Tales project in Maribor and Ljubljana, Slovenia.

From November 6–10, our team actively engaged in discussions with participants from Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Italy, and Spain, broadening our perspectives on climate migration. Maribor, with its rich history and charm, hosted the training sessions, setting the scene for an enriching experience.

As a testament to our commitment, we collaborated on the creation of a compelling book shedding light on the stories of climate migrants worldwide. Explore their journeys and challenges in our booklet: http://beyondthetales.org/.../11/Where-once-was-home-WEB.pdf

This journey wouldn't have been possible without the incredible opportunity provided by Local Democracy Agency Mostar & Humanitas - Centre for Global Learning and Cooperation. We express our gratitude for this chance to contribute to the dialogue on climate migration.

We look forward to applying the knowledge gained in our community and continuing our work on this crucial subject. Together, let's address the unique challenges posed by climate change. #ClimateMigration #BeyondTales #GlobalLearningConference #LDAMostar

Sarajevo Winter International Festival 2024 - Call

Marija Pejčinović-Burić, SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE,

Sponsor XL International Festival Sarajevo Winter 2024.

Ibrahim Spahić, director of the International Sarajevo Sarajevo Winter Festival, on the occasion of the decision he received from the Council of Europe that the XL edition of the Festival will be held under the auspices of Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, pointed out that this is an exceptional recognition of the artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Europe and the world which the Council of Europe has been awarding to the Festival since 1993.

When the Council of Europe, the common house of human rights and freedoms of Europe, grants its high patronage for 30 years (since 1993) to the Sarajevo Winter, the first edition of which was held in 1984 in Sarajevo after the XIV ZOI, I want to say that we share our pride with the Sarajevo audience, artists and media and the wonderful city of Sarajevo, which awarded us the 6th of April Award in 1998.

The Council of Europe was a participant and partner with IPC and Sarajevo Winter:

- The most significant solidarity convoy in February 1993 "Europe-Alsace-Sarajevo",

- "Sarajevo, the cultural capital of Europe" from 21.12.1993-21.3.1994. with the support of all cultural capitals and especially Lisbon and Antwerp,

- "X Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean" 2001.

- Promotions of the First World Competition for the Construction of Concert Hall Sarajevo at Marijin Dvor,

- Euro Regional campaign "Link diversity" for the renewal of citizenship and civil society in 2001-2002,

- "Sarajevo, the first intercultural city of the Council of Europe" from 21.12.2003 to 21.12.2004,

- Celebrating 50 years of the European Convention on Culture in 2004,

- Organization of the first workshops on the cultural industry in Europe, exhibitions and 10 international conferences on local democracy with mayors and civil society of BiH in the cities of Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Srebrenica, Travnik, Prijedor and Brčko,

- Formation of Bosnian regions,

- Houses of Europe Sarajevo,

- The first congress of representatives of national minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina,

- To create the Strategy of the cultural policy of BiH and the development of BiH and Euro-regional cooperation...

In order to mark the cultural bridge between Sarajevo from City hall, from the shores of Miljacka river and the Sarajevo National Theatre, Bobur in Paris and La Monnaie Opera in Brussels and a hundred other cities and cultural centres, which was opened on 21 December 1993, we will hold a special program of the Museum of Peace and Freedom and the Cultural Forum of BiH on the banks of Mak Dizdar and Kulin Ban, in the first headquarters of Sarajevo Winter in the Austrian House, the Festina Lente bridge and on the streets and squares of the city and the Olympic mountains and other locations and dedicate them to all citizens and artists and peacemakers by drawing the attention of the public on the sculptures Cyclists// Enes Sivac, Sun Clock / Stijepo Gavrić and Kentauromahia Re/Born/ Alma Suljević.

Art team SWF announced an international competition on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Culture of the Council of Europe on the topic: Cultural Olympiad Sarajevo 2025.

Spahić issued a public invitation to artists and art institutions and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to celebrate the XL edition of Sarajevo Winter, which will take place from February 7. until 21.3.2024, and with their participation answer the MOTO SWF:

The 19th Summer Acting School of the City Youth Theater Vitez (GKM Vitez) was successfully concluded with the final performance of the work in the Vitez Theater Hall.

This year's Summer School of Acting of GKM Vitez brought together more than 20 children and young people, and during the past month and a half, it offered the participants additional knowledge and skills of stage art in the branches of stage voice, speech, movement and acting. As every year, the Summer Acting School aimed to entertain and creatively motivate new members of the theater, as well as those who have been members of GKM Vitez for a long time.

"The interest of children and young people, as well as their parents, in the activities that our theater offers during the summer and the rest of the year is constantly increasing. The Summer Theater Camp and the Summer Acting School are a great prelude to the start of a new theater season and welcoming new members to our theater family. It was wonderful to see another generation of young people on the "boards that mean life", and I hereby congratulate them on their dedicated work in the past period, as well as the great performance at the end of this year's Summer Acting School", said the leader of GKM Vitez, Ivan Sajević.

The Summer School of Acting" of GKM Vitez included acting workshops that will serve the future members of the theater in further theater work. General Information
The Mostar Youth Theatre - MTM - was founded on the 24th February 1974. The main part of our work has been dedicated to the continuous and systematic theatrical education of children and young people. For this education the best progressive modern European methods have been followed. The performances of the Mostar Youth Theatre are an ongoing creative process. The young people who attend MTM are involved and trained in all elements of performance, especially free improvisation, acting games, physical theatre, movement, voice, pantomime, dance, masks, various styles of acting etc. Through such work MTM has had the following results: young actors continuing with their further acting education; young actors obtaining professional engagements; young actors who become permanent members of MTM; a regular audience becoming more and more faithful and enthusiastic in their support of the work. The theatre has been financed from the budget of the City of Mostar, who are its founders. It also receives funds from cantonal, federal and state ministries, as well as from international donnors wherever possible. The main partners of the theatre are: local/federal/state ministries of education, science, culture and sport, the Centre for Drama Education, the Faculty of Humanties, the Faculties of Drama Arts and various other local and international organisations and individuals.
Mission and Objectives

The Mostar Youth Theatre is not only „teatar“, or „pozorište“, or „kazalište“ (i.e.: teatar – theatre, pozorište - theatre in serbian language, kazalište – theatre in croatian language).
The Mostar Youth Theatre is teatar as well pozorište and kazalište.
The Mostar Youth Theatre is before everything an idea.
The Mostar Youth Theatre is a project of new, open, actual, research ways of doing the art of theatre. It is a place of creative exploring, in which the saint rule is esthetics, but, even beyond that, its superior rule is the ethics. It's a profile of the "third theatre", in which it is essential to have amateur love for theatre next to professional arrangement and results.
The Mostar Youth Theatre is not a theatre in which everything is about work.
The Mostar Youth Theatre is way of living.
The show never ends there. It's a living organism which is constantly changing, enlarging, exploring...
Actors work there even when there's no play or rehearsal, due to the fact that there's always something new to learn there.
The Mostar Youth theatre is turned to the future taking all the wealth given from past and present.
The Mostar Youth Theatre is turned to the world to study, but also to teach.
The Mostar Youth Theatre is a bridge for the future.
The main tasks of the Mostar Youth Theatre are:
• The furtherance and development of drama education work, learning from the experiences of drama pedagogy in BiH;
• The furtherance and development of speech culture and culture of public events;
• The development of the methodology of drama education;
• Help in the work, and additional education, of teachers and educationalists for drama education work;
• Cooperation with educationalists and drama schools:
• Helping to promote drama-talented students;
• Preventing young people from any forms of addiction;
• Protecting the reputation and expertise of its members;
• Using drama education work in dealing with, and releasing, the consequences of trauma.

Main Projects / Activities

The Mostar Youth Theatre has the following activities: children's theatre groups; a youth theatre group and the senior professional MTM groups.
The Mostar Youth Theatre also organizes an International Theatre Festival of Authorial Project. It aims to assemble as good a collection of new ideas as possible from within theatres internationally. The Festival is held every year around the last weekend of August. MTM awards four equal awards for authorial approach in any element of the performances of the festival program.
In addition, the Mostar Youth Theatre has established an annual International award called the “Grozdanin Kikot” award for the five individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the development of drama education. The awards are presented at a ceremony on the 24th February each year in Mostar, on the occasion of the Mostar Youth Theatre‘s birthday.
The Mostar Youth Theatre, through the Centre for Drama Education of Bosnia & Herzegovina (CDOBiH), is the member of the International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA).
The Mostar Youth Theatre and the Network of Independent Theatres, participated in the second programme - Play Against Violence 2, in Projects: Network, Steps and To stay or to go.
Its biggest projects implemented so far are:
Pax Bosnensis, War and Theatre, FACTORY, and numerous others.
It is also important to mention that Mostar Youth Theatre is the BH Centre of ASSITEJ.
One of the most recent relevant activities of our theatre is the participation at the festival of the Theatre of the Oppressed, which took place in April and May 2009 in Palestin and Israel.
