The project aimed to strengthen the participation of female filmmakers in festivals by presenting their works and participating in parallel activities. The aims of the project included: promoting freedom of expression by encouraging film makers from the region to address gender equality and empower women, promoting the role of female film professionals in the region by harnessing an enabling environment to formulate and express their own concerns, tackling gender-related stereotypes and improve the image of women in films and promote understanding, tolerance and cultural diversity. The project was carried out in 7 countries in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean and was supported among other by UNESCO and the European Union
