General Information

Peripatos is a sociocultural enterprise that imagines, designs and implements cultural projects that serve society and its progress. Our activities relate to society as a whole and our services add value to cultural organisations.

Three cultural professionals with expertise in heritage management, museology, art and history, consist of the permanent personnel, while there is a network of collaborators-experts in various relative fields, as well as a network of other socio-cultural organisations, private and public bodies, in Greece and abroad.

Peripatos’ sources are project-based, mainly from national public and E.U. funds, while the funds from the private sector also cover the fixed expenses.

Despite the project-based nature, we tend to create a continuity to our projects, in the sense of methodology, added value and deliverables, but mainly of relationship with our audience.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is inspired by Aristotle’s Philosophical Peripatetic (=walking) School. A promenade in the various forms of culture, accompanied by the local community, active citizens, experienced professionals, social and cultural actors and people with passion about History, traditions, Arts and nature, so as together to discover new ways to understand and practice culture.

We seek to promote and manage the socio-cultural heritage, since a cultural element is not completely understood outside the social frame that shaped it and there is no group, community or society lacking cultural creation and creativity. Nature is always present completing the triptych that forms our work. Our projects are of cultural nature and express the values of the community that hosts them with respect to the place and its environment. At the same time, our services are customised so as to add value to the partnering institution today, as well as long term.

Main Projects / Activities

Peripatos' plurality of activities fall into two categories: heritage management and consultancy, and cultural events. Indicatively, some projects we undertook in 2023:

- "Mystery 68 Stalker", in the context of 2023 Eleusis ECoC, where we empowered locals to create their own cultural walks and treasure hunts, promoting community involvement and ownership.
- “School full of Heritage", funded by the EU Creative FLIP project, a series of educational programmes and installation of an exhibition, in collaboration with primary school, aiming to introduce various cultural subjects and professionals to students.
- “Bridging Generations”, a Canon Inc. initiative that we facilitated the workshops and installed the exhibition that brought grandparents and grandchildren together to explore topics of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
- Large-scale conference production for the Greek Ministry of Culture and Culture Action Europe.
- “Artemis & Diana”, an Erasmus+ project, which focuses on the personal and professional empowerment of women in GR and IT.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Our contribution to the Network in Greece is multifaceted. Beyond our three permanent staff members, we engage a dynamic pool of at least ten additional collaborators for various projects. Collaboration is our strength, supported by a robust multi-sectoral network of associates both domestically and internationally. Although based in Athens, we ensure that at least half of our initiatives target regional areas, and we frequently implement international projects. Out of the latter, we are part of the international Bosch Alumni Network, through which we co-founded the GR “Culture for Change” Association for socio-cultural professionals. Moreover, we are connected with another GR Association “ESDIAPOK” for the Cultural Heritage Consultants in GR. This extensive network and our diverse project locations enable us to foster widespread cultural engagement and dialogue throughout Greece and beyond.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Joining the ALF Network aligns with our core values of fostering collaboration and cultivating international relationships. Our encounters with ALF's impactful initiatives have consistently impressed us, and we deeply resonate with its commitment to intercultural dialogue and diversity. We are enthusiastic about engaging more actively in these cultural conversations, eager to both gain inspiration from fellow members and contribute our unique perspectives and expertise. By joining, we hope to enhance our mutual understanding and work together towards a more inclusive and culturally enriched global community.
