Mission and Objectives

Our conviction is that art and culture can contribute in a relevant way to human, educational, social and economic development of women and children living in the rural areas of Morocco. Through appropriate artistic and cultural programs for children, youth and women, we aim to: - Provide a social and economic empowerment for women through the implementation of programs allowing them to develop an income-generating activity; - Participate to the widespread of basic education and its improvement; - Fight against school dropout; - Promote national and international cultural heritage; - Promote art as a mean of expression, creation and development of human and democratic values.

Main Projects / Activities

The first project of the association is called ”Talents de femmes” ( Women Talents in French) and was launched on 2009. By setting up an art program, this project aims to empower a group of women living in the rural area of Agadir in Morocco, to develop and sustain an income-generating activity. The objectives of this program are to stimulate their creativity, to help them be more independent and autonomous, and enhance their role within their communities through their social and economic empowerment, and their artistic production. The association has started its second project, called Tanouir, on January 2011 in favor of more than 2000 kids. This project aims to reduce school dropout and by that, improve the chances of the kids beneficiaries of this project to succeed as adults in a challenging professional environment, via an artistic program deployed in public primary schools located in rural areas in Morocco. The artistic program allows to create an enriching space within the school, where kids can benefit from artistic workshops, and by that, develop their capacity to express themselves, their self-confidence, their critical thinking, their ability of questioning…etc. In fact, Art is used as a tool to educate kids and help them to get more familiar with universal values such as tolerance, peace, respect, nonviolence…etc. Education to some themes like environment, ecology, human rights and civic education is part of the project as well. Finally, the last year of the project is dedicated to cultural diversity, to help kids discover the richness of their own culture, and the diversity of the world. Through these projects, we believe that kids can improve their soft skills, and be better citizens as change makers within their communities, their country and around the world. Until now, our project has benefited to more than 13 500 kids, 30 primary schools, and more than 90 women in 3 regions around Morocco.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

For the youth empowerment program, we’ve designed many pedagogical materials. For the artistic workshops we've organized within the public schools, we’ve developed and expertise on the field of animation and creation of art programs that we’ll be glad to share with other NGOs. Part of the activities of our organization is to organize trainings for teachers of public schools in order to initiating them to different pedagogical approaches. The objective is to encourage them to integrate animation an artistic activities such as singing, storytelling, drawing … in their daily classes in order to achieve their learning objectives. We’d like to share our experience with others NGOs specially the ones working in education or youth empowerment.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We appreciate the work the ALF is doing to gather actors from the civil society across the Mediterranean region. We would love to expand our network to create synergies with other NGOs in Morocco and abroad.
