The main aim of GSM is to bring Turkish youth to international platforms, help them meet with different cultures and to support the development of a common understanding and tolerance among young people.
Get Information Go In Action To Europe: (Contract No: 29.06.2007/DELTUR/2007/141374): The aim of the project is with the title of representation of Turkish young people; to reveal young people’s needs, expectations and also thoughts and prejudices about European Union with the supports of information systems. By means of the peer education Turkish young people will have the chance to know better about EU and action plans of EU for young people.(In partnership with Lunaria from Italy.)
“Youth Post” Youth Information and Youth Media Portal: YouthPost is a new youth portal that includes various subjects related to youth in Turkey, such as youth policy, youth work etc. The basic objective of YouthPost is to create a framework in order to integrate youth policy in Turkey and develop a virtual network that would enable young people reach all sorts of information about youth issues in a compact and accessible format. (In partnership with British Council and UNDP)
YIB - YOUTH INFO BRIDGE (www.yib.gen.tr)
YIB is a youth project designed and implemented by British Council-Ankara and GSM-Youth Services Centre. The project, which the pilot phase has started in September 2003 and continued until April 2004, is composed of a web page serving for young people and the youth organisations and the other NGOs organising projects for young people in Turkey. The web site was visited by 2 million people in a year.
INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTARY WORKCAMPS
These small scale thematic youth projects have been organizing since 1989 in cooperation with municipalities, universities, governmental institutions and other NGOs. The workcamps enable young people from different countries to come together and exchange ideas while engaging in a public beneficiary projects.
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS REALIZED BY EU AND/OR COE FUNDING:
Training Courses, Seminars, Study Visits and Youth Exchanges. Since 1995, GSM actively follows and participates in the developments in youth work under Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and GSM has been organizing and participating several youth projects supported by Council of Europe and European Commission through the Euro-Med Youth Action Program.
THE EUROPEAN YOUTH FESTIVAL (1999-2002, Ankara / TURKEY)
The project was financially supported by European Commission. The European Youth Festival that has been organized for the 4th and the last time in 2002 was a unique and probably the biggest annual youth gathering in Europe. The Festival has been launched in the year 1999 and organized annually until the year 2002.
