Based at and funded by the Intitute for Leadership and Communication Studies (ILCS) the Fatema Mernissi Youth Think Tank represents the research department. The core research team is Dr Ledger and Mr. Benhallam but we are also involved with visiting researchers and student researchers. We currently have advisors from Morocco, America and the Uniter Kindgom.
Our Global Vision The Fatema Mernissi Youth Think Tank is a forum where youth can speak and will be heard. Encouraged by the late Fatema Merinissi our aim is to maintain her spirit in the work that we do. This will be achieved by conducting dynamic, participant-led research, listening and engaging with youth to develop our research projects. Our platform will unite researchers from different disciplines as well as youth from all walks of life to embrace the collaborative nature of the work conducted by the late Dr Mernissi. Through the identification of communication and social barriers faced by Moroccan youth, and by breaking them down, we hope to bring about positive social change through awareness and by dignifying the voice and opinions of youth. Objectives Create a platform for discussion Connect people (academics, youth, governmental officials) Advocate youth participation in research Produce objective reports to inform various stakeholders
Our major activites are youth discussions, which feed into our research with you, by youth, for youth.
We would like to contribute to the Network in Morocco by acting as a brdige between youth organisations and the government and we hope that through conducting rigirous research in the area of youth we can make a difference for not just youth in Morocco but also around the world.
We think that joining the ALF Network would be great because we are already working with some of the organisations listed for Morocco on your database but it will help raise our profile and the work we not not just in Morocco but also in other countries. Fatema Mernissi always encouraged breaking down barriers and as we want to create collborative research we believe that joining the Network is the first step on this journey.
