The primary mission of the Institute is to initiate and conduct research, create reports and analyzes on the following issues: the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, foreign policy, the State of Israel, the policy of the European Union and European countries to the Middle East conflict and the peace process, the Polish-Israeli and Polish foreign policy against the state of Israel. An innovative project to create the Institute IZROPA will outline political priorities towards Israel, not only in the context of Poland, but the entire Central European region and, consequently, will allow Poland to better shape an European foreign policy.
The establishment of the Institute IZROPA is even necessary having in regards the intensity of Polish-Israeli relations. In the past 10 years, these relationships are not just limited to the political sphere, but there was a wide space of military, cultural or educational cooperation. These positive aspects of cooperation were overshadowed by the unresolved issues such as the restitution of Jewish property or educational programs of Israeli youth visiting places of martyrdom in Poland. However even it those spheres we see much of the progress and reconciliation.
Our plan is extremely ambitious: within 2-3 years we would like to become a major space of analysis of the subject of Israel-European relations in Poland, providing expertise to Polish political elites. Within upcoming 4-6 years, we desire to become a major center for strategic analysis of the European-Israeli relations in the whole Central Europe. I would like to emphasize this strongly: this is the first such specialized analytical center in the whole region of Central European.
There are several projects being developed at the moment. We plan to carry on with the two important research projects dedicated to the relations between Central European countries and Israel. Apart from this we plan to organize the conference from the field of the Israeli studies next year.
We would like to bring our contacts and the knowledge of the Israeli partners.
We strongly believe that working together is the best way to achieve the progress and understanding in Euro-Mediterranean relations. Especially in terms of the science and analytical projects, teams consisting of international fellows are of the key importance. We would like to find stable partners and propose certain projects to carry out.
