General Information
Eskişehir is an educational, agricultural, industrial and commercial city in northwestern part of Central Anatolia region of Turkey. It lies on a fruitful plain irrigated by Sakarya and Porsuk Rivers and its tributaries. It has been a crosscroad as it was in prehistoric time. It is surrounded by city of Ankara in the east, city of Kütahya in the west, cities of Bolu and Ankara in the north, city of Bilecik in the northwest, cities of Afyon and Konya in the south. It is between eastern longitude 29° - 32° and between northern latitude 39° - 40°. Its area is 13.652 km². Because of having a continental climate predominantly, Eskişehir is dry and warm in summer and cold and snowy in winter. Step flora is seen in Eskişehir of which 22 percent is thickly wooded. Metropolitan Municipality of Eskişehir has two affiliated municipalities named Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı.
Central District, Alpu, Beylikova, İnönü, Çifteler, Mahmudiye, Mihalıççık, Sarıcakaya, Seyitgazi, Sivrihisar, Günyüzü, Mihalgazi and Han are Eskişehir’s districts.
Main mountains are Bozdağ, Sündiken, Sivrihisar, Türkmen and Kırgız; streams are Sakarya, Porsuk, Sarısu, Seydisuyu, Bardakçı and İhsaniye. There are also Gökçekaya, Porsuk and Sarıyar Dams in Eskişehir.
Eskisehir's population is 724000.There are two counties in Eskisehir and their names are Tepebasi and Odunpazari. Tepebasi's population is 300000.
